How do Whales Talk?

Whale Sounds

There are two suborders of whales, baleen whales and toothed whales and they differ not only in their feeding habits, but also in the way they communicate to each other.

Toothed whales, like sperm whales use their blowhole to make a range of sounds which are used to talk to each other and also for echolocation or bio-sonar.

Baleen whales, like the blue whale and the baleen whale, use a different method to talk to each other, producing sounds in a different way which do not include air exhalation and it is known as whale song.
